Crockery is a broad term that refers to different types of tableware. This includes all kinds of utensils used at the table during meals. Tableware can include all types of utensils such as plates, trays, bowls and condiment storage utensils such as a sauce bowl.

Technically, the term "Crockery" encompassed fine china and china ware, but more generally the term "tableware" was applied to utensils intended for use in more informal situations, such as a simple family meal.
